With the exception of Gary: Portrait of a Teen Alcoholic, this looks to be the best afterschool special ever. Apparently it aired in 1987, so it wasn't exactly cutting edge, but Doc from the Love Boat plays the concerned father. It's really too bad they don't make these anymore.
